Comfort Food Sunday – Fried Mush

It’s comfort food Sunday! 

This is one of my favorite foods from when I was a child. Simple and delicious! 

Fried Mush

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 3 3/4 cups water, divided
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
Bring 2 3/4 cups of water to boiling.

Mix cornmeal, salt and remaining 1 cup of water.


When water comes to a boil, stir in cornmeal mixture.


Cover and cook until thickened.

Pour into loaf or cake pan and cool for several hours or refrigerate overnight.


Slice cold mush and pan fry until golden brown.


Serve with maple syrup. Enjoy!
